Revenge on Ebay Ticket Touts!
I've been missed out for the last time! This is ridiculous. What can be done about ticket touts selling on ebay?
You probably know the story. You simultaneously hang on the telephone while continuously refreshing the webpage of your chosen ticket outlet only to come away frustrated, and that's understatement. Still there's always Ebay. Where those poor unfortunates who accidentally bought tickets to the gig at the wrong end of the country (again) are desparate to get shot of those (extra) tickets they've so unfortunatley been lumbered with. Yes, I'll be able to pick some up on there nearer the time. Well, actually you can do it within hours of the regular ticket outlet selling out. If your willing to pay, sometime up to three times the face value.
Thats my moan out the way. So what can be done?
Here is what Ebay says here on the matter of what you can sell;
Prohibited and Restricted Items: Overview
Prohibited, Questionable & Infringing Items
eBay is here to help, but you are ultimately responsible for making sure that buying an item or selling your item(s) is allowed on eBay and is not prohibited in the eyes of the law. Follow these steps to find out whether or not your item can be listed on eBay.
- First, review eBay's listing policies. These guidelines will help you properly list items and understand what is allowed on eBay.
- If you're still unsure about listing your particular item, look over the select list of items below. These guidelines and policies are designed to help you trade safely on eBay. Remember that:
- "Prohibited" means that these items may not be listed on eBay.
- "Questionable" means that items may be listed under certain conditions.
- "Potentially Infringing" means that items may infringe certain copyrights, trademarks or other rights. For your protection, some items here are not allowed ("prohibited"), regardless of the legality of these particular items, because they almost always breach copyright or trademark laws.
"Contracts and Tickets" falls under "Questionable"
But what does that mean? "Questionable" means that items may be listed under certain conditions. Well try as I might I couldn't find what these certain conditions are. So obviously Ebays "rules" aren't up to the job of stopping the touts. What else can we look to?
The ticket outlet I (try to) purchase tickets from says this in its terms and conditions. Which I might add, you have to actively look for.
Once purchased, tickets cannot be transferred, exchanged, refunded or returned unless the event is cancelled, moved to another date, or if details of the event are significantly changed after an order is placed (significant changes being a change of headline act (concerts only), venue or show time)
and
By ordering you agree that the tickets are for the personal use of you and your party only, and will not be resold or transferred. Any resale or attempt to resell the tickets at a price higher than purchased will result in your orders being cancelled without prior notification.
interesting...
